This is a three band gig with each band playing for an hour of which 75% of the material is to be original. A novel concept in this day and age but a chance for us and others to showcase our own songs. The other bands taking part are Sly Fox and the Shed Spiders. To maximise the audience the running order will not be determined until the night so if you want to guarantee seeing any specific band then you need to be there for 8:00.
If the night is successful then HB promotions may run it again on a regular basis.
Our other big event was our support slot to Raven at the Live rooms. A wet Wednesday night but it turned out be a really good one. We had to shorten our support slot as the other support band went on late however we managed to get a good rocking 35 minutes in and it was well appreciated by everyone there including the crowd, the promoters and the guys from Raven. Hopefully we can get some more support slots there. Raven were a good bunch of guys and we thoroughly enjoyed their set. Very entertaining, not too serious like us just up for a good time.
Since then we have returned to the New Inn Johnstown/Wrexham, been three years since we were last there. Seemed to go ok although Bonfire night, a new pub opening and other events locally may have reduced the audience slightly. We were told we would be rebooked in 2016.
Only three gigs left this year including this Friday. I did see a TBA at Birkenhead’s swinging arm for Sunday 29th Nov and let them know we are available. I will let you know if that comes about.
Rants
To be honest I am not sure I really have the time to put any down this week.
With all the world events my minor irritations seem a bit trivial to be honest.
Have to take a rain check on that one.
Music
Managed to catch Bernie Tormé in Liverpool last week. I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get the support slot but then when I arrived and discovered it was an upstairs venue my disappointment soon disappeared.
Enjoyed the gig although not too keen on the acoustic number, still it was a bit different.
Managed to acquire my Blackmore’s Rainbow tickets for next June. Looking forward to that one as might be the last Rock gig Ritchie ever plays. A lot of discussion over the members of the band but to be honest I have seen Ritchie numerous times over the last 39/40 years and apart from two Deep Purple gigs he has never had the same band twice.. Given his reputation for good players he is not going to have substandard musicians is he?
So until next time
Keep Rockin’
