Thursday already and another weekend almost upon us. So let’s get the commercials out of the way first
Saturday 26th September
The Bath
Morecambe
Lancs
The Bath is actually one of our favourite venues and we have played many times. I think we will give them a few new songs this time, they can take it. Looking forward to it.
Last week- Friday we played The Clwyd which during the two hours of Rugby preceding our set had about six customers. We needn’t have worried , by the time we were playing our second number the place was rammed full and stayed that way until the end of the encore. Don’t know where everyone appeared from but glad they did and it was a rockin’ night.
Not really done much else really, family stuff mainly. Some slight maintenance on my guitar leads and a few screws tightened up etc.
Still trying to lose weight but seem to have remained the same for a couple of weeks now, still better than gaining I suppose. Just keep trying.
As always the weather is changeable although the sun has been out quite a bit. Very pleasant if you can find the right spot.
I believe yesterday was the Autumn Equinox so the daylight is now officially shorter than the darkness and it is a steady descent into Winter. I don’t mind really, not sure I would want to live somewhere that is the same every day all year round. Wouldn’t mind trying it though, happy to be proved wrong.
Rants
Well the refugee crisis in Europe and generally appears to be getting worse. I think the people who are complaining about them need to realise how lucky they are to have been born and brought up be in a country where their lives are not constantly in danger or they have lost everything they had in some stupid war. Really though the solution to this is not to move the people around which is treating the symptoms. The cause needs to be addressed and the wars stopped. I have said it before, bombs, and ‘munitions cost money so someone is funding this and someone is selling them the weapons. Cut them off at source and it will soon end. You have to wonder why this has not happened already.
This week we have the Volkswagen emissions scandal. Not being funny but really how many people bought an eco friendly diesel out of concern for the environment rather than the lower Road tax?
Sounds like China are in the running for major construction projects here in the UK. Power stations and the high speed rail link HS2 (which personally I think is a waste of time). It would appear therefore we either don’t have the skills or are far too expensive to build our own infrastructure. Bit pathetic really don’t you think.
A lot of fuss this week over new new labour and Liberal Democrat leaders, all very boring to say the least.
Just let them do their jobs for a while and then we will talk about them.
WH Smith inflating prices at their hospital outlets, should lose the concession I say. Give it to someone else. They do the same at Railway stations and airports I am sure.
Sunday papers – well the Mirror on Sunday has taken over from the News of the world for the weekly dose of scandal, gossip and general pointless trivia. Not a lot of point in me looking at it as to be honest I have no idea who most of the people are. Actually I really don’t care either.
So it was half way through the week when I heard about Cameron and Pig gate. Well I don’t know how true it is but it shouldn’t really surprise anyone that well off hooray Henry 19 year olds form such secret societies whilst at Oxford/Cambridge. It’s what they do isn’t it?
Sad but true.
I mentioned last week that the Rugby may disrupt a few gigs and that was the case last Friday. We set the gear up before kick off and then sat down to watch the “major event”. I lasted about ten minutes before I was bored out of my brain. I am sure some people enjoyed it but not many where I was as I alluded to earlier. Nearly two hours of my life I won’t get back.
This Saturday is the “big one” apparently England/Wales. Yawn. At least the Bath does not really go in for sports events on TV.
Music
Hmm, spent a fair amount of time trying to sort out my Itunes. Seems a lot of my music library is stored on The cloud which is no good to me. Had to go through the whole library making everything available off line i.e. downloaded.
Another example of computers stealing my time.
I need a new computer as a recording studio really, my old one has died. Do I really need one though, I have the ability to knock up quick demos to play to Jim and Steve and I prefer recording in a proper studio anyway. It focuses you more when time is limited, it is also fun.
Speaking of which, I must progress a Pledge campaign to see if we can raise the funds to record a new album. Certainly worth a try.
Music listened to this week, Well Raven as we are supporting them in Chester, thought I had better check out their new album.
Speaking of which if anyone is looking for tickets to that Gig on 21st October at Live Rooms Chester, we have a limited number at half price (£6) so drop us a line at
Other than that been chilling out to Paul Simon/Simon and Garfunkel. Classic and timeless songs really. Very few people who can’t appreciate them.
Until next week
Keep rockin’
