Hi folks,
well it’s nearly time to head off the to Mechanics Arms near Queensferry for tonight’s gig. Almost local for us – less than 20 miles. The last time I was in this pub was probably circa 1980 as it was near to where I was working at the time. Presume it has changed since then as I could never have imagined us playing there at that point? So some slight trepidation on my part although to be fair they called us.
Tomorrow is a bit of a concern as well, the Toll Point in Denton, although they have been provided with all our info their web site describes the venue as indie rock which is most definitely not us. I have no qualms about the band of course just that sometimes you are the wrong band for the venue. Hopefully they won’t be shouting for Oasis all night as they won’t get it.
Maybe I’m just having an attack of paranoia, Although we do pretty well for gigs some venues where I am sure we would go down well (or actually have done) just seem to ignore us. I’m sure it’s nothing we are doing wrong, our set seems to be appreciated, our presentation is good and certainly more is put into it than a lot of other bands. We always behave professionally and never have any trouble. So what is it that these venues want? I don’t know and I wish I could buy a bottle. Actually I do know of course, bums on seats.
To be fair the easiest way for them to do this is with the tribute acts (How many AC/DC tributes do people want to see) or by putting on local bands who all bring their mates.
I’m just in one of those moods today, I’m sure once I hit the opening chords tonight it will be blown away and my normal optimistic self will return.
By the way my latest “gear” video has been added to the homepage of www.swiftpedals.co.uk as they asked to use it to show off their looper switch. Cool eh?
I am also in negotiations with another vendor to demo their product as they like my presentation style. Also good.
Still changing and tweaking the lyrics for the next single, the theme has changed completely in the last week. Music is the same though.
Right better load up.
By the way despite my “I don’t like funk and I don’t like soul” reference in Rock & Roll it’s in my blood I thoroughly enjoyed the 1967 Stax concert on BBC 4 last night;- Otis Redding, Booker T, Eddi Floyd and others, great stuff.
Right I’ll get back in a couple of days and let you know how it went plus the results of our ZZ Top tickets Draw.
