Hi all,
It’s been quiet for a couple of weeks as I was otherwise engaged on another project and not available. Anyway, normal service resumes – the next Clan gig is: -
Saturday 23rd November
Hop Pocket
Carr Lane
Chorley
We had a good time last time so let’s hope it will be even better this time.
The most recent gigs we did included a return to one of our favourite venues – the Bath in Morecambe. After trying a couple of other venues in the town we have decided that we will stick exclusively to The Bath as far as Morecambe goes, they have been good to us in the past and we enjoy the place and the people.
We tried out some of the new (to our set) songs and they went down well. I’m sure we will return in 2014.
Speaking of 2014 – we now have a New Year’s Eve gig. We weren’t really expecting one given that it is now November but we are playing the Royal Oak in Blackpool. Not played there before but it sounds like a good rock venue.
It should be a fun night. Probably dig out the bass bins for that one.
We haven’t played in Chester for a while either since both Brooker’s and the Beehive closed down.
We are therefore glad to report that we have a gig at Alexander’s (Rufus Court) on Thursday 19th December. A good opportunity to show that Chester Rocks (as opposed to the farcical pop festival they hold under that name in the summer). We know there are many people in Chester who appreciate Good time Feel good rock, just a shame there is nowhere for them to go to get it.
So – Hopefully this will provide a fix. It’s a good excuse for a Christmas rock out.
A ticket event so get ‘em early. Price: – £3.00 in advance, £4.00 on the door. It is a really nice venue actually although it only holds 150 people. Tickets advised.
We have actually had quite a few bookings come in recently; they are all posted on the “live dates” section of our web site.
I see Sweet and Slade are on tour again and I was considering going to see them again. Decided against it though as even though I really enjoyed it last year both bands were effectively doing a greatest hits set and I can’t see it being a lot different. Worth seeing though if you haven’t seen them. I have read Don Powell’s book (Slade Drummer) so it does rekindle the interest. A good read actually.
I have the Sabbath gig to go to in December anyway so that will suffice.
Someone else on tour is the Original Status Quo line up again (the frantic four). As with Slade/Sweet I enjoyed them earlier this year so I don’t think I will be trying to recreate the emotion of the event.
There aren’t many people I have left to see on my wish list really. Obviously as time goes on the chances of seeing some of them are reducing. Possibly Stan Webb (Chicken Shack), been interested in seeing him live since hearing the Imagination Lady LP in the seventies. I just don’t seem to have ever got around to it though. Maybe I should actively seek out a gig.
Rants
Sadly it would appear that music is now officially a visual experience rather than audible. Video has indeed killed the radio star. The apparent importance of the YouTube awards has effectively confirmed this.
I still prefer to listen to my music in the car actually and I still get wound up when I ask people if they have heard a song only for them to respond “I saw it on YouTube”
It is amazing how “celebrities” are asked to do things outside their area of skill simply because they are celebrities. Good luck to them I say but the BBC sending Patrick Kielty and Cerys Matthews to report on the country music awards in the USA seems a bit odd to me. Maybe I am wrong and they both have a passion for country music. Hmm?
I recently flew on an airline, that shall remain nameless, but it was one where they charge for coffee/tea etc. Well how inefficient is that? Talk about slowing down the service whilst they mess about with money. Hint- Sit at the front or the back, as that is where they start. If you sit by the wing you will wait a long time.
Surely it would be easier to charge a little bit extra for the ticket and give free coffee/tea. So much easier and quicker to actually do it that way I am sure.
Music
Well we are nearly into the festive season again so an opportunity to plug our annual Yuletide offering. Still think it is a cracker of a song.
Our little bit of Christmas cheer, still available from ITunes and other download sites including our own website of course.
The video shot during the recording is also on YouTube of course for those who need to “hear it” there.

Until next week
