Hi all,
just read the last blog and it all seemed pretty upbeat. Only one way it could go from there downhill.
So what’s the issue? Well first of all the single hasn’t appeared on the download sites yet. Two weeks after “release” and no-one can buy it from anywhere except our web site www.clan-rock.com/fr_albums.cfm. I’m chasing up but it may be a while until resolution.
What else – well I am becoming a bit disillusioned with the rock world, something I never thought I would say. Don’t get me wrong I still love playing and listening to a Marshall amplified Stratocaster but it’s the lack of imagination that seemss to have infiltrated the genre that is the cause of my blues. It seems that people only seem to want the same limited number of songs from the same limited number of bands all the time.
Planet rock plays AC/DC, Led Zeppelin every twenty minutes and then even when the listeners get to choose the song they choose the same ones.
At gigs, we like most bands are constantly asked to play an AC/DC, Bon Jovi or Zeppelin number plus of course Freebird. All good bands and songs of course however there are plenty more out there plus plenty of other songs by these bands. Basically it seems that Joe Public wants every band to sound the same and play the same set.
I don’t mind playing a few covers and actually do enjoy it but for my own interest and satisfaction I have to play a few different things occasionally.
When I was growing up there was no AC/DC or Bon Jovi but there was still a lot of good rock.
Oh well I’m sure it’s just a dip in life’s rollercoaster. All be on the ascent again soon.
Have to say that good gigs help and every now and again when everything works like clockwork there is nothing better. At times like that the occassional long trips to play for disinterested people is soon forgotten. So no intentions of stopping.
Anything else happening, well there is a new venue for us this Saturday so looking forward to that then 11 gigs in August including the Swinging Arm in Birkenhead. Not played there for over 12 months so be interesting to see how that one goes.
Also have our favourite venue in August – The Greyhound in Beeston, Notts. Hopefully be as good as usual. We love the people there.
So maybe no reason to feel down eh? Life is to be enjoyed,
Rock on
Craig
