Right – what has happened over the last couple of weeks?
Well once again the Amplifier didn’t sell on EBay? Quite surprising really as it is a classic Marshall JCM800 1*12 50W combo. Its 30 years old and allegedly much sought after as it is the vertical input 4010 model? Apparently it is not as desirable as it is supposed to be?
We played the gig in Colwyn Bay a couple of weeks ago but it was fairly quiet. Not surprising as it turned out that Mick Ralphs (Bad Company/Mott the Hoople Guitarist) was playing a couple of miles along the coast with his blues band. Let’s face it there are only a limited number of Rock fans to go round along the North Wales coast.
We finally had our band meeting. Very productive it was too. Changes on the way but will take some time to implement so no need to mention them yet. Exciting times ahead for the Clan I think.
Last Saturday we played the Brunswick in Crewe. We had played there twice previously; the first time was good, the second time last time was dire through no fault of our own. To be fair it was probably one of the hottest days of the year, a Friday night and as is the norm these days all the televisions were left turned on. So it was with some trepidation and perhaps indifference we turned up last Saturday. Decided to use their lights and really do a bit of a cut down show, let our music do the talking.
Well needless to say it was a great gig, very enjoyable. Back there again before Christmas.
What else? Actually not very much at all. Still need to sort out my car in the long term but that is dependent upon funding of course. Failure to win the lottery again this week means it may have to wait a little bit longer. Speaking of the lottery I think the increase in ticket prices is just a bit greedy. Well I am not paying the extra; I’ll just keep the same expenditure. I think they have introduced far too many games to be honest; Camelot should have just stuck to the one lotto game and kept it simple.
The nights seem to have started getting darker earlier all of a sudden. I know this happens of course but it does seem really obvious at the moment. Nothing that can be done about it of course.
Rants
I noticed a new Sushi restaurant (bar) in Chester the other day. Obviously I didn’t go in (fish /rice – not really my thing) but I did notice that the food was travelling around the place on a conveyor belt. Why does this seem to only apply to Sushi? A totally unnecessary gimmick if you ask me which no doubt bumps the price up.
There still seem to be too many people driving cars whilst on the phone. There is really no excuse given the low cost of hands free units.
I see Vanessa Feltz, apart from appearing on every publicity seekers show there is, is still taking every opportunity to bleat on about the fact that her husband left her (years ago). Does she not realise that every time she moans about this (not sure how her new bloke feels about it) it makes her look more desperate to have him back? Get over it Vanessa, move on! She is supposed to be a clever woman but if you have ever listened to her radio show or read her newspaper column you have to wonder.
Bank Accounts. Has anyone tried to open or close one recently. At one time it was a case of give us your money and here is your account. Now it seems that they virtually interview you and may some decision as to whether you are a suitable customer. I find this very strange.
It’s a bit like being interviewed to see if you worthy enough to spend your own money on a loaf.
Music
I’ve been listening to a bit of Queen this week but the Queen + Paul Rogers live album actually. Nothing against Freddie Mercury who after all did write an awful of the songs on the album but this album seems to rock a lot more than the original Queen. One suspects that probably if they had sounded like this from the off they would never have become so successful, difficult to know but I love this album.
Paul Rogers has always been one of my favourite rock singers and you can tell that Brian May and Roger Taylor are having a ball here.
Serious Queen fans probably hate it but as a casual Queen listener I think it rocks!
Give it a listen, you might be surprised
Until next week
Keep rockin’
Craig
