Ok so it has been a while I admit. Important stuff first, we play
Friday 27th June
The Naval Club
Connah’s Quay
Given that Saturday is National Armed forces day this is a good gig to do the day before. Our Admiration, appreciation and thanks goes out to everyone who has or does put themeslves at risk in order to allow the rest of us to live safe and peaceful lives.
So what else has been happening since the last update, well the Football world cup of course which I find extremely tedious and now England have spectacularly failed to adavance is even less interesting than it was previously.
Sadly we now have more sport to replace it in the form of Wimbeldon, already on both BBC TV channels at once. This will be followed up by The Tour de France (starting in Yorkshire??) and the Golf Open.
Ok – so I guess you have realised I don’t like sport.
Car playing up recently, overheating – not a pleasant experience driving 150 miles with one eye on the temp gauge and one on the rear view mirror in case an artic truck ploughs into the back of you. Typical that it happens just before MOT and road tax due as well. I suppose the freedom from having a car can’t be expected to be free.
Had a flying trip (no pun intended) abroad recently, Easyjet from Liverpool Airport. Have to say I found both the airport and the airline very acceptable, a pleasant surprise.
Musically I have pretty much abandoned listening to Planet rock radio and not found a suitable replacement, so it has been the Ipod most of the time. Nothing new loaded so the usual shuffle.
The band are still playing of course and as mentioned previously we are looking forward to returning to the Cambridge Rock Festival in August. Be good to be in the company of FM, Snakecharmer and Wishbone Ash plus numerous others.
We are still rocking everywhere else of course, see our website for full details www.clan-rock.com/livedates.
New venues for us included:- Elton Fold WMC in Bury and The Musketeer In Leigh. Both were great gigs and we are looking forward to returning to both. More disappointing was the Saith Seren (Seven Stars) in Wrexham. Very poor attendance which may have been due to the football rather than the venue. Whatever it was I doubt we will be asked back although it was our second appearance there; venues only book bands that enable them to sell beer. Ah well we will keep rockin’.
No rants this week, apart from the fact that wide loads are allowed to hog two lanes of major motorways in peak hours causing huge trafffic queues! Also the extortionate cost of train fares.
Music – Nothing to recommend – my current listening has included Roxette, T.Rex, Miranda Lambert, Black Sabbath and Cat Stevens.
So until next time – Keep rockin’
