Well probably not but It’s a Bank holiday Monday here in the UK so popped out to relax and had a few beers. I have to say the new menu in West Kirby’s Red Door is much better than their previous offerings.
So although the band performed well this weekend neither gig stood out as memorable or above our (high standard) normal level. Nothing wrong with the venues, just a shortage of people really.
I think I will assume that three days is too much for people to be out given the economic climate. I don’t think it was specifically down to us being on. I have to say that wherever we play we always get good comments and feedback.
The one thing that I do get annoyed at that is the current trend to leave Televisions on all through the pubs whilst we are playing. At the risk of shooting myself in the foot I do wonder why venues bother to book bands if they are are going to leave TVs on. Personally I find it a bit ignorant and rude but hey they are the ones taking the money and deciding where it goes so fair enough. Bit off putting though when playing as TVs are difficult to ignore and I have found myself watching them whilst half way through the set which is not good.
Bit surprised more of you haven’t signed up to the ZZ Top Tickets draw at www.clan-rock.com, It is free!
So this week we have three gigs starting on Thursday in Crewe. Another new venue for us so fingers crossed for that one.
Friday is the normally good Bath in Morecambe and Saturday is local at the Saughall Hotel – Wirral.
So thanks to all who were at the Hare & Hounds or the Griffin last weekend, next time bring your friends
