Well this week it is really just a Gig promo. I have not been too well really so time has got away from me.
This week’s gig is
Sunday 29th March
Wangies
Eccles
Onstage approx. 9:30
We have only played Wangies once before as a fill in for a cancellation, it went ok but for some reason we never returned, seems to happen quite a bit when you do cancellations which is one reason why we have stopped doing them. Hopefully this time it will go really well and we will get some repeat bookings. Sunday night?
At the end of the day we will deliver our Good time Feel good rock as we always do and it’s up to the audience whether they enjoy it or not, depends upon their expectations and musical preferences I guess. Let’s hope the van doesn’t smell of fish this week.
So apart from being ill this week I did actually lose 2lbs beforehand, a step in the right direction if not exactly a sprint.
As I mentioned last time I had cause to be in Leicester this week although I didn’t arrive until Wednesday. Can’t believe the fuss being that is made about Richard III. Leicester is obviously trying to boost itself as a tourist destination. Good luck with that.
I was slightly disappointed at having to miss seeing the Pat McManus band but then again I really wasn’t up to it. Sleeping definitely took priority and it was the right decision.
Rants
OK so I mentioned Richard III. Nothing against him personally but really the pomp and ceremony that was created to go around what is effectively a PR exercise in pushing Leicester as a tourist destination was absurd. And I still haven’t forgiven them for making me having to stay in a hotel in the sticks rather than in town.
Music
This week a friend of mine Paul Stead released his new album. Paul is basically the driving force behind the band Sacred Heart who we first met when they were eon the same bill as us at Cambridge Rock Festival in 2011. For this new release Paul has changed the name of the band, for reasons best known to himself, to “The Darker my Horizon” and the album is called Acquiesce. He claims it has a more modern sound but having listened to it a few times it still sounds like Sacred Heart to me which is no bad thing.
Good album although I have still yet to recognise the individual tracks as I haven’t heard it enough. I couldn’t make it to the launch party last week but I believe he is trying to arrange some more live dates to promote it.
Check it out.
Until next time
Keep rockin’
