Yes we have a Thursday gig! Just in time for what may hopefully be some works Christmas night outs possibly. We may even play its Christmas (Lets have a good time) Following that we have our last booked gig before Christmas in Preston on Saturday so hopefully both of them will be rocking ones.
Actually we are looking forward to Thursday as we dont get to play in Chester very often and Alexanders is a cracking venue.
Ok, unbelievably it appears that some of you dont actually read all the way to the end of my blogs so you missed this review of our Clan 100% Live album by SKOPE Radio. Check it out here.
You can then buy the album here if you dont already have it. J
I listened to it myself again the other day and what can I say it rocks!
Last Saturday we were in Hoggs & Heifers in Bentham. We have played there a few times and it gets better every time. Even having to hump all the gear up and down the stairs is almost bearable when its a good night. There were actually people literally swinging from the rafters, I kid you not.
My one off Clan T-shirt hasnt arrived yet, taking its time.I was hoping to wear it at the Sabbath gig tomorrow.
Rants
Hmm, Along with some other people it was decided to order some breakfast batches the other day from a new Sandwich bar.
So first of all I rang them, engaged. Then I sent the order via email to the address on their flyer only to have it bounced back with email address unknown. I rang again and got through, gave the order for four batches and they were all repeated back to me correctly. Lo and behold when they arrived mine had tomato sauce on it (which I detest). So not happy at all by the entire sequence of events I took it back and got a refund. Interestingly the email address posted in the shop was different to the one on their flyers. Even at this point the shop never apologised. Not a great way to start a new business.
Now I appreciate mistakes can happen (even when only putting four batches together) but I would have thought a good idea would have been to provide my refundand perhaps offer a free sandwich. That way I would probably have thought, ah, good service but instead I was just somewhat annoyed and promptly passed on my feelings to other people.
So as Mr Branson once said if you get something wrong then unless you do something about it you will lose that person and probably a number of others who are told of the bad service. It is therefore in a businesss interest to appease unhappy customers.
Something else that winds me up and to be fair I have heard Michael McIntyre do a rather amusing comedy sketch about this, is purchasing items which are in sealed moulded plastic. How exactly are you supposed to extract them and how can you repackage them if you need to return them?
Ok we all know that battery operated items have a switch on them. Usually it is the same action required to turn the item on as it is to turn it off. Either a slider or a press button. So, why is it whenever we put a battery operated device such as a torch in a pocket or a box it always manages to turn itself on and drain the battery? If you put it away left turned on the reverse just doesnt happen. They never turn themselves off even though the action is the same.
They only ever turn themselves on How is that?
Its a bit like cables coiling and tangling themselves in a box up without human intervention.
There are strange forces at work.
Music
This week well as I am off to see Black Sabbath tomorrow I have been reviewing their back Catalogue. Its pretty impressive too as long as you ignore the Never Say Die album which I think most people including the band do.
That still leaves eight great albums if you include the recent 13 so thats quite a few songs for them to choose a set list from. They cant play them all.
I think I have said it before but my favourite is still Black Sabbath Vol 4. Not only a great album but for those who remember such things a great iconic cover and on the brilliant Vertigo label. All these things completed the experience for me when I first heard the vinyl album way back in time but Im glad about that. You just dont get the same impact with a download.
So its got to be Black Sabbath Vol 4 for this week.
Next week will include a short Sabbath gig review
So until then,
Keep rockin
