Hi everyone,
It’s been a while so I now we are in July I figured time for an update. First off we have some good support slots coming up for the band at The Tivoli – Buckley.
Tickets for all of these gigs are available from the Clan web site Clan Ticket site at discounted prices (no discount on DIIO), so if you are thinking of going to any of these please buy them from us – better for you and makes us look good with the promoters. Win win.
In addition tho these of course we continue to play various other selected venues where Live music is appreciated – the next one being a return to the Hoggs ‘n’ Heifers in Bentham. been a while since we played there but it is usually a good appreciative audience.
Speaking of which we played a rare local gig at the Ship inn-Hoylake recently and it went well. A lot of friends there, some we haven’t seen for a while and some I haven’t seen since I was at school – which is a long time ago. Only downside is that the pub is changing management so unlikely to play there again. Typical.
We have added some new songs to our set, some covers and a couple of originals. The plan is to record the new originals as soon as we can and put them out – still pondering the merits of whether it is more advantageous to release EPs or wait to do a full length album.
The modern trend for listening to music seems to be streaming and/or downloading so would people even bother with a whole album? Modern life appears to have created shorter attention spans. Jury still out on this. It is always good to have CDs available at gigs but more and more people seem to have abandoned CD players as well, even new cars don’t seem to have them fitted. That leaves the potential market for vinyl – trouble with this is that is far more expensive to produce, requires more artwork (inner sleeves, labels etc) and would anyone buy it?
it’s always a risk doing this if you want to recoup your outlay but some risks are smaller than others.
So that is about it for Clan news right now.
I can’t end without mentioning the unexpected and sad passing of my old Friend Andrew “Eddi” Edwards recently. Eddi and I were the founder members of “The Switch” ( he played drums) back in ’88 and we played in the band for four years. we had a lot of good times however as is the way once the band finished in ’92 we didn’t see a lot of each other. We both went on to join other bands and we used to bump into each other occasionally, the last time was at a Charity gig late last year. I was shocked to hear the news a few weeks ago – condolences to his family.
Anyway – lets’ all keep rockin’
Craig
